The World Needs a Hero

I was talkin to my boss the other day and I asked him what he thought of this bill they just passed where the gov gets access to all your phone and internet browsing data, and if they happen to break any laws using that info, no one can be held accountable(they're gonna break the law with it) . My boss is at least haphazardly politically conscious, he's the kind of guy who goes to those campaign rallies and what-not, but he didn't have much to say about it.
Then I put forth the proposition, how surreal it is that our country has changed so much all because of an event which happened seven years ago.(I'm being a bit ambiguous in light of this bill, not that it really matters anyhow) That got a lil bit more response. He told me something I wasn't aware of, before they passed the patriot act there were two congressmen holdin it up in committee.
If you don't know, whenever a bill is introduced it is first sent to the appropriate committee to be voted on and if it passes there it goes to be voted on by the entire house or senate.
Anywho, so there's these two congressmen who are basically like,
"Now just hold on a second George. I know we just got attacked and people are scared, everythings a lil crazy, but this shit you got here is 100x crazier than all that! Life is a risk George, if you'd gone to nam like you were suposed to you would know that. Everytime you leave your house there's a chance you'll get in a car accident, or trip and sprain your ankle, or run into someone your tryin to avoid at the supermarket, that's just the way it is. We can't just throw away freedom and liberty for the illusion of safety, cause that's what it is, an illusion."
And these two guys are either some of, or the only ones, who "coincidently" found a menacing white powder in their mail boxes. Like I said, it's surreal. We both agreed that its like a bad movie or some cartoonish nightmare. Something you look at and derisively say, "glad this is the real world, that shit could never happen."
Later on in the night I was thinking more about this macobre conversation and it occured to me that if we live in a universe of balanced forces, where every action results in an equal and opposite reaction, then if so much unlikely evil* has taken place it can only corrolate that an equally unlikely hero will emerge to overcome this adversity and reestablish truth, justice, and the good.(not that any of these things have ever existed)
The dominate system by which world events are governed has been one of general evil and disregard for life in favor of expanding power and capital, probably since recorded history. Since the days of Sargon the Great, who is thusly named for his prowess in murder, rape, and pilaging. 4,000 years of this life for death mentality has condensed into this moment now when conquest is no longer a regional or national affair, but world wide with the advent of the internet, mass media, sonic jets, and space travel. We already have two cases where the failure of this way of thinking has expressed itself on a global scale, and you know what they say, "the third times the charm."
I'm not saying world war three is going to come in our life time, but with the state of the world at this moment you'd be niave not to expect it. Though when it comes that will be it. The final tribulation of our inability to relate to one another. Ultimate evil will reveal itself and the greatest champion Earth has ever seen will rise up to face it. And that's it.
After that we'll either have reconciled our failures with the changes that must be made to our mind sets, or we'll all be called to glory. To quote Einstein, "I know not with which weapons world war three will be fought, but world war four will be fought with sticks and stones."
Or not at all.......
*Evil is a relative term, there is no actual evil just what is evil to you and what is evil to me.
